About Chris
My sole intention behind putting this blog up is to share those experiences… mine and those of other’s… as references that may interest, empower,or inspire others to accomplish their goals.
I hope that by creating connections here, between networks of individuals and organizations which have shared values and complimentary goals, we may enhance the lives of others.
I LOVE working with people! Building relationships with people, connecting with them, helping them, and if I can make even a small difference in their lives… that’s my JOY! I can’t possibly begin to do that though, unless and until, I allow people to know me and what I’m ALL about!
Just about 5 yrs. ago, I got the shock of my life… I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. (They say there’s no cure, but I’m out to prove ALL of them wrong… or at least go down swinging! LOL!) That meant an abrupt change in life for me. But that’s what life is all about though… CHANGE! Sometimes the change will exact a hefty price. In my case, it was the loss of a job and the income it provided.
Life creates CHANGE and gives you CHOICES
You have two choices then. You either adapt and become stronger because of it… or you give up on Life! My love of life, and my faith in a “higher power” – that there is a purpose for this – would not let me give up.
I’ve been residing in a lovely little tiny rural community called Cardiff since May ’07… two churhes and a corner store (2hrs. N/E of Toronto) It’s in a beautiful area of Ontario, known as “The Haliburton Highlands” (cottage country, lakes, trees, moose and deer are part of my ‘hood now.) I came up here just to help my elderly folks move back to the city… they wanted to be closer to family.
Shortly after arriving, my Mom suffered a stroke… so I stayed on to help and look after them. “Me wee Ma” passed away in May 2009. Now it’s just me my step-dad… and the cat. My step-dad… he’s a great guy – but that’s a story for another time. (LOL !)
Living in an area away from the big city certainly does give me a different appreciation for all things… people, neighbours, community… even when you have to drive 20 minutes to town for the basics… nevermind a Walmart… that’s another 90 ! (LOL)
Developing My Passion
When I’m not lookin’ after “Pops”, I can usually be found “working on me” …listening to some personal development, or educational programs. It wasn’t until my early 20′s that I started to develop a passion for learning.
The study, practice and dedication to martial arts… the discipline of the Eastern cultures, lead me to explore yoga and a spirituality, which was appealing but unknown to me at the time. This opened up whole new vistas to the power of the mind… which lead me to personal development. I didn’t know it at the time, but that is what truly resonated with me.
For most of my career, I was in Operations Management and became very adept at putting together well-versed, competent, effective and successful teams in place. So, here I am …in Service to the World. I can’t think of anything else I would rather do than help others achieve their goals… whatever their vision of success may be…. whatever YOUR vision may be!
