The Good News is… Now is the BEST time to actually be entrepreneurial and try to pursue your dreams! Yes, even in a “Bad” Economy! Where do you start?
Don’t depend too much on the recent news… know your environment, and try not to listen to woeful stories. You should do some research on your particular niche. Having the right mindset – a “can do” attitude will put you head and shoulders above the crowd.
Set Your Priorities
When times get too tough, it helps to actually sit down, think hard, and list a few things you want to be remembered for. This may seem a little sombre but it can help immensely in setting your priorities in order.
Of course, your efforts don’t just end there… give yourself the breath test. You’re still breathing? Great… then you’re still very much here… and it’s time for you to LIVE !
Give time to help out other people establish networks from different organizations. If you can’t help yourself… offer help to others. You’ll get to meet people with new ideas, plus the work does something good for your spirit.
Along the way, you’ll always find people just like you, who seem to be faced with adversities. As with the worldwide recession, when you’re in a territory you’ve never been in before, things just seem more challenging. The key to getting out of any hole is realizing that you haven’t just fallen; you’ve fallen into something that may be unfamiliar to you.
What are Your Options?
There are so many options still available for you. For one, you can open your own business. Whether that looks like a brick-and-mortar business, or an online biz. Right now, you may not actually have to contend with as many competitors. Just make sure you’re informed and up-to-date with their offerings. Plus, resources have been a lot less expensive.
Maybe you’ve been recently been downsized… you actually have time to develop your idea and perhaps a bit of severance money to fund it. So many entrepreneurs out there are generally unaware of the efforts of the government to recover from unemployment and instability. Instead of sticking your head in a hole and shutting away reality, you can actually get there and see what avenue you can take.
The biggest challenge here would be the consumer’s ongoing hesitancy to shell out some dough. If they were more willing to spend, you might actually become an overnight success. In difficult times, people choose to cut back on the frivolous, and there’s a flight to quality. Even in a choosy environment, there’s always room for Good, Better and especially the BEST.
Planning and Analysis
While it is quite crucial to have a business plan, you should also have a mantra…. your focus to keep you on target. In addition to the product or service you will be providing, think of the meaning and impact you’ll be making. Having a true mission is a way to leave competition in the dust.
Okay, so maybe you can’t risk opening your own business but you still have an idea you’d like to develop and market. Choose a name with a potential so that the recall is much better for those who’ve never come across the type of business you have.
Or, you can always go back to school and expand your existing skills by acquiring new ones. Sign up for enrichment classes because the value of knowledge has never been higher.
There are opportunities to be found in your own backyard… and yes, even as you’re reading this… rumour has it that there is opportunity on the internet!
